You finally made it! Classes are over and you can breathe again (not true for you dedicated few who are stuck in summer school right now). The sky looks so much brighter than it did last week! What a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to have knocked down yet another semester, you should be proud.
Now comes the wonderful three month blur that is the summer. You will work more (makin some bacon), you will be able to read what you want to, and you might even have the chance to sleep in again (God really is good)! As you begin to settle into your new summer routine, I wanted to remind you to build some Jesus time into your day. You have such a great opportunity each summer to catch up and get refreshed on so many important parts of life. Getting closer to God is a decision that you won’t ever regret. Here are a few ideas to help you kick off a great summer of growing closer to Jesus!
- Read a book – Here are some authors I enjoy: Mark Driscoll, Tim Keller, D.A. Carson, Kevin DeYoung. Also, I hear the Bible is a really good read.
- Pray a lot more – Try a different approach though. How about keeping a journal, or making your own weekly guide? Include Kent XA in there too!
- Fasting – Reading Isaiah 58 is a great place to start for this.
- Talk to People – go tell somebody what Jesus has done in your life!
There is a ton (maybe 2 tons) of stuff you can add to this list. The point is to find something fresh to add to your relationship with Jesus this summer…you won’t regret the investment!
